Access Ability recognise the importance of quality training, therefore our trainers are extremely experienced and experts in their respected fields. They are able to differentiate courses to suit the needs of individuals, ensuring all our courses are fully inclusive and delivered in a positive learning environment.

Access Ability hold a Service Level Agreement with Lancashire Adult Learning (Lancashire County Council), providing access to accredited and non accredited courses supporting individual paths or career choices as well as working with other training providers / colleges.

We are passionate about breaking down the barriers and educating people around disability we provide the following courses.

Deaf Awareness and BSL Day (6hrs)

These courses give individuals information on Deaf awareness, focusing on key issues relating to communication. This will help to deepen their understanding of how access for Deaf people can be improved to create a more positive approach.

BSL Foundation Workshops (2hrs x 5 weeks or 2 days x 5 hours)

These fun interactive courses provide an insight into British Sign Language and acquire signing skills. 

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) (2 days/ 12 hours)

Mental health problems can affect people at any time of life in different ways. They affect not only individuals and their families, but friends, work colleagues and employers too. Many people suffer a mental illness for a long time before they seek help.

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) (2 Days/14 hours)

Youth MHFA is an internationally recognised training programme designed specifically for those people that teach, work, live with or care for young people aged 11 – 18.

MHFA Awareness (3hrs)

MHFA is a 3 hour introductory mental health awareness course that can be delivered to up to 25 people. Because of its short duration it is not meant as a substitute for the full MHFA course.

Dragon Naturally Speaking Training

Dragon Naturally Speaking training is working with small groups or one-to-one with personal computers or laptops through software developed by Nuance. This is a bespoke training which is tailored to each individuals needs and used by users with both physical and learning disabilities.

Manual Handling Awareness Training
This training is to increase participant’s knowledge and awareness of the relevant legislation of Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
