Mubasshir has been unemployed for 6 years, following a company closure. Despite his years of experience and skills, Mubasshir has found it difficult to find work due him being profoundly Deaf and potential employers are finding this difficult to accommodate despite him being a great worker. He joined Access Ability at the beginning of 2015 as part of the Good Health Fund, funded by Blackburn with Darwen CVS & Public Health where he attended weekly sessions with his brother.

Progress he has made……

… Mubasshir is now a very active member of the group and engaged in a variety of workshop and training sessions. These include basic first aid training, print workshop, Deaf awareness, manual handling interview workshops as well as healthy lifestyle and social activities such as our football, bowling, yoga and walking workshops.

Throughout his time with Access Ability, Mubasshir firstly was very shy and need his brother to attend the weekly sessions. Since then his confidence has grown which has given him the motivation to continue to update his CV and constantly improve his I.T. skills, now able to confidently use email and apply for jobs online. Through peer support and one-to-one sessions, Mubasshir has made significant progress and has been invited to job interviews with interpretation support. Despite not being successful yet he is has received constructive feedback from the interviews, still up-beat and looking into volunteering and training to gain more new skills to increase his chances of paid employment.
