Ken attended one of our BSL & deaf awareness training courses funded by Lancashire Adult Learning 2013 – 14. Then Ken continued his interest to a paid BSL Foundation with Access Ability in 2015.

As active member of his community Ken is the reverend of a small group of Methodist churches in the Accrington area. As well as an interest he also felt it was important to learn basic sign for his service’s and communication due to a new Deaf lady regularly attending one of the churches.

Ken is currently undertaking his British Sign Language Level 1 with Blackburn College to continue his learning.

Ken said, “The course and support provided by Access Ability and Lancashire Adult Learning has opened my eyes and generated even more interest to want to learn more BSL to be able to communicate with every member of my church communities. I never thought such a short courses would be so valuable. It also provided me with the confidence to put what I learnt into practice as well as my personal experiences in my role.
